Sean Derry and Sean McConaha have established The Bang and The Clatter Theatre Company to produce innovative, challenging works of exceptional quality and imagination with a particular emphasis on modern American plays. The aim is to create a provocative dialogue between theatre artists and the community by producing and promoting plays that explore the boundaries of theatrical style and illuminate the human experience.

The Bang and The Clatter Theatre Company is committed to seeking out new audiences in Northeast Ohio and to opening our theatre’s doors to young, diverse audiences. We believe that the communal experience of live performance is essential to the psyche of any community and that the theatre should be affordable to anyone who wants to attend. At the same time, the theatre and its supporters must find a way to pay its artists livable wages and spread the word about the value of their craft. We aim to be a place that supports artists rather than projects, where risk is encouraged and the possibility of failure is embraced rather than feared, as it is only under these circumstances that truly great work can emerge.

It is our hope that you will continue to support this new venture in the simplest way — purchasing tickets. At $15, we are the most affordable theatre in the area. We plan to help change the cultural landscape by pushing the limits of our mission and allowing theatergoers in the area to experience a “new” theatre, one that confounds conventions and asks difficult questions.

That noise you hear is the sound of change. Thank you for being here from the beginning.
